Lars Edvin Lagerbäck Named Super Eagles Of Nigeria Head Coach

Lars Lagerback has been named as the Super Eagles Of Nigeria Head Coach to lead Nigeria to the 2010 World Cup to be held in South Africa. The Nigerian Football Federation announced the hire saturday on its Website. http://www.nigeriaff.com
Lagerback beat out stiff competition from former England Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, former Senegal Coach Bruno Metsu, former Ghana Coach Ratomir Dujkovic and former England star and Coach Glenn Hoddle.
Lagerback led Sweden to the Round of 16 at the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup Championships. As co-coach, Lagerback led Sweden to the last five major tournaments, starting at the 2000 European Championship. Lagerback resigned as Sweden's coach in October, 2009 after his team failed to qualify for the World Cup.
NFF will unveil Lars Lagerback in Abuja on Wednesday March 3, 2010 at the Media Centre of the National Stadium Complex before the Super Eagles versus the Simba of Democratic Republic of Congo international friendly.
Lars Lagerback contract with NFF will be for initial five months, and he will be expected to deliver at least a semi-final finish at the World Cup in South Africa.
